Friends, an update here is long overdue, but for good reason. This year, my husband, Heath, and I have been baking something extra sweet: a baby girl! We expect to meet her any day now and cannot wait to finally hold our blessing in our arms. My due date passed earlier this week; the waiting is driving us antsy, but we're trying our best to remain patient and wait on her perfect timing.

Pregnancy has given me much appreciation and taught me more about embracing the many changes our body goes through in life. It's been remarkable to grow our sweet babe and see my body transform to accommodate this beautiful tiny human. I can honestly say I've never had more respect for what our bodies are capable of or been in awe of the miracle that new life represents.

My pregnancy experience has been an enjoyable one (and I realize how very lucky I am to be able to say that!). With the exception of a few back-to-back colds in the 1st trimester and a little heartburn in the 3rd, I've felt great and been able to working out and eating well. I've been fortunate to (mostly) maintain my energy and feel good, for which I'm so grateful because life has been a whirlwind this year in all the best ways. In the beginning, I wondered what cravings or aversions I'd experience, but somehow my palate remained mostly the same. I still craved staples like roasted veggies, oatmeal and peanut butter, avocado toast with an egg, and leafy salads, but we've made plenty of ice cream runs this summer too. To be expected, considering the last 3 months of this pregnancy were in the sweltering Louisiana heat. That and Heath is an ice cream connoisseur, and we're committed to supporting each other in our chosen fine arts.

What's In a Name?
The name "Landry" came to us early on, before we knew she was a girl, and we kept gravitating to it. Heath is coincidentally from St. Landry Parish, so it's a subtle nod to her Cajun roots. Landry means "leader; powerful ruler". It's strong, feminine, and bold. We chose "Faith" as her middle name, symbolizing our constant belief and confidence in our Creator, who so perfectly created our dear daughter. "Faith" also bears a strong, significant meaning, in that it's reflective of the magnitude of God. Landry Faith's life verse that we've prayed over her is Matthew 17:20, "Faith the size of a mustard seed will move mountains". We couldn't love her or her name more!
Landry's Le Petite Nursery
We're actually in the process of house hunting and currently live in a charming duplex with only 950 square feet, so creating a nursery space was a fun challenge. We considered converting our dining room space into the nursery, but ultimately decided to design a "Le Petit Nursery" in our room since recommendations are to keep newborns in room for at least 6 months. Sitting down to a meal at the table is something we both value, so keeping our dining room set-up was another plus in fitting the nursery into our existing space.
Our goal was to design a whimsical garden-themed nursery space that was highly functional, and we couldn't have done so without the help of our dear friends. My talented friend, Jamie, brought new life to our dresser/changing table (follow her on Instagram @paintedfarmhouse), while another good friend of ours, Ryan, built beautiful book ledges out of Louisiana cypress. My cousin, Hannah, thoughtfully had the door hanger custom made to go along with our theme and included a beet for the perfect touch!
One of my favorite things about creating this nook was making the baby mobile, which was literally pieced together from all over the world. The crocheted fruits and veggies were from this Etsy artisan, the wooden hanger from another, and we strung all together with multi-colored felt ball garland from Hobby Lobby. Add an adorable mini crib, sheets and a dust ruffle made out of fabric from Dirt Cheap by my grandmother, and voila! Landry's Le Petite Nursery was complete. Think I'm trying to convince our child to love fruits and veggies from an early age? Who me?? *Folds an avocado onesie to tuck away in drawer*

Landry Faith Frugé, we can't wait to feed you all the good stuff life has to offer, watch you grow, and teach you important things, namely how to batch roast veggies and make a roux. Your dad and I are simply bursting to meet you, but we know the best recipes often require a little extra time in the oven. And you are so worth the wait.
